Well, with a nil-nil scoreline against Lille, things could have gone better…Like not being the only game in Ligue One without a goal.
But I’d argue that a draw to begin the season is nothing to fret about. According to the highlights and match reports I’ve seen, Nancy was a bit stale and failed to “catch fire” during the game. In the second half a header went off the crossbar, nearly giving us the advantage, but it took our solid defense and keeper to ensure the point, even into stoppage time. According to the AS Nancy site, two main areas where we can improve are getting better service to Fortune up front and beginning to win more midfield balls up for grabs.
But let’s not forget, we were missing some key players, and even had one man, Feret, making his Ligue One debut. So all in all, a good start. I’m excited to see us take it up a notch when we get some of our suspended and injured targets back.
In other news, Pascal Berenguer won a trophy Saturday night, without stepping foot on the pitch! He was awarded the Jean-Stovenot Trophy, which goes to the best Corsican athlete of the year. Not a bad way to start the season! Felicitations Pascal.
Up next…Nice. I’ll try to do a bit of a preview later on in the week, but I think our chances are looking good. Until then, take care!

It just shows that Nancy just need a good proven goal scorer that can find the back of the net then Nancy will really be a force to be reckoned with

Nate: what do you think about this Mickael Chretien to Lyon rumor?

Geeze, I don’t know. Seeing that he just signed until 2012 was positive, but now with Clerc injured…He’d definitely get the playing time and more exposure for a move abroad (if that’s his goal.) But I really hope he sticks around for the season. We’ll see

Well, if he does go to Lyon (which I don’t think he will, Puel said he’s going to promote some kid from the academy), Nancy would get a pretty hefty fee. They’re in a superior bargaining position and can ask for what they want. Then again, with Puygrenier gone (I CANNOT believe he went to Russia of all places), Nancy’s defense might get too unstable with another key player gone in the same summer.
Oh, and wtf was Kim thinking when he went to Qatar? He could have played for a way better team. Is he in debt or something that he needs so much money?
